Teams turn out for official 2013 Monster Energy MX Nationals launch

The 2013 edition of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, was officially launched at Raymond Terrace in New South Wales today, 27 February.

The 2013 edition of the Monster Energy MX Nationals, Australian Motocross Championship, was officially launched at Raymond Terrace in New South Wales today, 27 February.

Attended by the majority of leading factory teams including CDR Yamaha, Monster Energy Kawasaki, Motul Pirelli Suzuki, Motorex KTM, Serco Yamaha, Raceline Pirelli Suzuki, GYTR Yamaha and more, the event offered a first look at the class of 2013.

Williams Event Management’s Kevin Williams announced a number of returning and new partnerships for the new season, including Holden, Swann Insurance and Sunshine Coast Tourism.

It was also confirmed that Monster Energy will remain the series title sponsor for the next two seasons through 2014, in a pivotal deal with the US energy drink giant.

As reported earlier this afternoon, live broadcasting online direct from the circuit will play a major part in the 2013 rounds during practice, qualifying and potentially the final races at Coolum in September (click here for previous story).

Williams also outlined the importance of the recently introduced two-moto formats, extended point-scoring system through 30th position, and the innovative MX1 Super Pole that will determine the top five qualifying of the premier class this year.

“The future looks very bright for motocross in Australia, our partners are long term and we are very committed to further improving this championship program and enhancing it,” WEM’s Williams commented.

“Our aim is to keep this format for at least three years, reviewing it with the riders and teams as we continually do. It’s shaping up to be a very exciting and successful season ahead.”

On track the action was hot, providing the sport’s elite the first real look at their that will be faced when the series commences in Raymond Terrace on Sunday, 14 April.
