It’s official, after months of speculation Ryan Villopoto and Jake Weimer have re-signed multi-year deals with the Monster Energy Kawasaki squad.
After Villopoto dominated the 2011 season, along with taking out the 2012 AMA supercross series, the young speedster has chosen to stick with the winning formula.
Weimer impressed many in 2012 on in the premier class, earning himself a solid third place overall in the Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross championship, cementing himself as a serious contender in years to come.
Reid Nordin, Kawasaki senior manager of racing, explains that the goal from the beginning was to have the best riders on the track riding for their team.
“Our goal from the beginning was to have the best riders on the track and we have that with Ryan and Jake,” said Nordin. “The guys work extremely well with each other, and have both had exceptional seasons.
“The entire team continues to work hard to improve. We are looking forward to having two Kawasaki’s on the podium and continued success for many years to come.”
Villopoto is expected to return for the Monster Energy Cup in Las Vegas on 20 October, where he and Weimer will both battle to take home the large prize purse.
