i think its very sad that super x is no longer! how does it come to this? We definatly need somone to carry it on, the sport will be doomed and future generations will have nothing to aspire to. Hope that its resolved and there is a series this year, if not a real tragerdy.

yeah Supercross and 20lap finals!

I wonder how close they came to breaking even if you look at a couple of the events individually like Ipswich and Maitland? because those events although they were in small arenas maybe thats what we need for the next year or so and get this show back on the road profitably and build. it rarley works to build something bigger than what it can sustain.

I believe the saying "if you build it they will come" but you gotta start with a field and keep growing.

also hopefully the "show" is focused on again - christo and spokes prom. had a good thing, the lasers didnt really do much for me but the posties and other entertainment was good.

Mini bikes/pit bikes are not entertaining!

Your on Track, My View from the start of problems. OK! Time to get myself in more shit! I BLAME MA!!!! Why? MA and state controlling bodies work together to the very minimum,Fact,i was on the board of Directors MNSW. Promotion of our sport from the top level, from the club level, from the rider level is CRAP! Teams at least get out to schools and Hospitals and MA do a little of that but its hardly the Daily Telegraph MX or SX. Remember CLUBS still do the work at the MX Nats. and without that MX would not be so successful. Around Aus the relations between Speedway and MX are generally crap but both fields have great people with great work ethics for the sport[generally volunteers] SX has been at Parramatta Speedway,Wagga club can get there speedway[ill promote that one with Wagga club if MA need that] Im sure with all the funds going to controlling bodies that they could do a deal with the speedway act[which is under control by our Governing bodies] and easily put a cheap series together with a petrol head audience already. The local clubs could help and hopefully share in a little profit and also if the track or part of cant remain on the infield it could be used as top dressing by the club on there local track.

Personally I think the trick for whoever comes on board is to find a balance between what FTS did a few years back with the great tracks, unreal racing for 20 minutes and speedway-type arenas, and the super-slick operation and appearance (with proper tuff blocks, start-gate signage, fireworks etc) that GAS had. There's something to be said for how classy an event looks from a purely cosmetic point of view (the best thing that happened to SX was getting rid of Christo's pink tape!), as well as running a straight-forward event with formats that aren't confusing on a track designed with input from the pro racers.

And I honestly think holding a SX series outdoors betwen October and December is the worst possible timing. Spring is always incredibly unpredictable. Everyone has this delusion that spring is all sunshine, lambs and dafodils, but realistically it is ALWAYS raining, windy, and promoters have to roll the dice every single weekend as to whether they're going to be lucky enough to strike a fine day.

The first round of the series should be held mid-December, then hold three or four events through January and February. The teams won't like it, as they may have to work over the summer break, but if outdoor supercross - which is far more dependant on weather than MX - is going to work, that's the only way to do it.

I'm sitting on the fence as far as the juniors go. I can see the pros and cons of each argument, so it might be a case of having them at, say, the second and third rounds, and keeping the opening and closing rounds as high-end, long, tracks that are designed to challenge the pros.
