Can he repeat as champ and give TC his first title as team manager at Monster Kawi???

Let's bench race. Biggest move Aussie motocross has seen in years, potentially ever. What other Aussies have won on multiple brands?

Here's an interview I did with Jay this afternoon...

Jay Marmont is a gritty rider. I think hes got a shot at the title on any of the 5 factory teams.Just some points I was thinking about.

I dont think the Kawi will factor into it. Mackenzie and Ferris have both had great rides on the bike this year. So i dont think the change of bike will be an issue. Maybe if he was going from Green to Blue it might be a different story.

Jay has been a Dunlop rider for a long time so the swap to Michelin may be a challenge for him.

Dacka has a very structured team and has been around for a long time. TC's team is fairly new and they may not have the experience that Jay has been used to with the CDR team.

I think that the 2012 field is most probably the deepest it has been in years with at least 6 or 7 guys capable of winning races and of that probably 4 or 5 that consider themselves championship contenders. It sure was an interesting choice to change teams this year. I wish Jay luck and am interested to see who takes his place at CDR. Im pulling for Bopping.

Moving from a team that he "knows what he is going to get" from CDR, Dack, bike, mechanic, team mate, etc etc. is a bit of a risk, sometimes it doesnt take much to upset the apple cart - but at the same time its been 4 years and maybe he a change of scenery is what you need to keep it fresh and interesting!? its hard to keep doing the exact same thing year after year - of course every year is different as far as racing goes, but the background stuff with a well established team like CDR is the same (and from CDR perspective why change if you have a winning formula) - i guess i should have read the interview before i commented - lol.

it would be cool to see Jay overseas, i think he had a time over there not to different to both Mossys and reardon with injuries... where would he sit, say if he was on factory kawi in Jake Wiemers position?

Big move for sure & from what I read in your interview, it's not for the money so he must have felt he can perform better on that bike or has more room to improve it. Jay is a true competitor & each year since returning from the USA he has risen to all challenges in the MX Nationals.

ItsORourke I am hearing ya on the tyre change might be his biggest hurdle. Byrner had huge trouble back in 2009 on them. Even CR22 had trouble changing over to the Dunlops from Bridgestones. Time will tell.

I have to agree the 2012 Australian MX Nationals are looking better than ever. I counted 9 open guys with a real chance at winning moto's.

I was surprised to hear him say in his interview that he was still interested in racing overseas again, I would have thought that he would have gone either last year or this year if there was a decent offer on the table. If he can win outdoors this season he'll definetely have a few factory rides knocking at his door. How good would it be to see him on Team TwoTwo.

I noticed his bike didn't have a hydralic clutch in the pic (after all the dramas he had with the cable clutch at SX last year), I wonder if we will see one on it before the season starts??

Either way 2012 is shaping up to be the best ever year in Australian MX

Jay is going to be strong on the KX for sure, with the internationals Townley, Coppins, Brad Anderson and Monster Kawie team mate Billy., Geting any other Aussies on the poduim is going to be a tall order. Dacka will be looking to make a move for the future and should sign Boppo who is maybe the next guy to step up. Suzuki have Todd Waters and Cody Cooper, JDR Tye Simmonds and Reardo So there are Nine guys with moto wins and genuine championship cred.....We just mite have a race series worth watching !

Doova your opinion seems to always be different to everyone else. The whole point of
Forums is so people can discuss their views and opinions. So next time before you try and make some one look like a fool on a Fourm over a comment, please remember we all read your ridiculous comments as well and never complain about them

Doova,
Please be advised my comment ' We just mite have a race series worth watching !' was meant to reflect excitement in the upcoming season and wasn't meant to disrespect the 2011 season or any previous Pro Open season, racer, riders family members, licensing body , track, track owner, track preperation crew, or promoter.

I have been going to the Nationals a long time and next years line up is the deepest I can remember.

Seriously Doova I never said anything negative about the series!

Sorry mate, I perceived it as though you meant that the last few years haven't been worth watching and it felt like it was disrespectfull to the series and riders but I can see what you were trying to say now. It just seems lately that alot of the top industry people are writing off the sport, if the sports industry are writting it off, what chance do we have to get mainstream people to come watch. Just the other day in cricket the cricket board fined Simon Katitch for making detrimental comments about the game, imagine if MA could do that in Motocross.

Damo, your a wanker.....

Yeah sick one Scott but seriously no1 gives a rats arse about your opinion. You make out your some industry insider when your not even in the industry and the only goss you get is off forums. As soon as anyone says something different to you you slander them and make them look like fools infront of everyone. I think you just need to wake the f@ck up to yourself and learn the accept others opinions and comments . It's call moto discussion topics not doovas topics

Got to love a bit of fourm biffo!

The only real piont of interest in the Marmont to Monster Kawie deal is as itsORourke said the Michelin tire deal but I can't imagine that they wouldn't have access to the Factory or as Michelin call it the "Confidencial "product which was very good back in the day I was at Kawie.

Cause you have nothing to say Scott . If your such the industry insider as you think than tell me this. As you say in alot of previous post the series cops alot of crap. If the Series is as good as you say it is than why are so many people giving it crap? Tell me that one Scott . Yes I'll even let you have your Opinion without making you look like a dickhead after it

What the hell are you on about?? Did you forget your medication this morning or something?? When and where have I ever said or insinuated that im in the industry or an "industry insider" as you like to put it. MotoOnline is pretty much the only moto website I check regulary so most of the moto info I know has been on the home page or in the forum.

The worst thing about this forum argument is that you actually know eachother in person! Lets not make this forum a fight fest like that other Aussie one that now seems to be a ghost house ;-) MotoOnline is all about good discussions and being fans of the sport. Pointing out that you don't agree with someone is fine (especially if it causes a good debate), but name calling and carry on wastes everyone's time after more than one or two posts. Anyway, you should stop by to contribute more Damo lol.

The worst thing you can do is over moderate a forum (i know from personal experience LOL). Let the users punch on I say!
