MotoOnline.com.au meets one of the revelations of Super X this season.
One rider to stand out in the early rounds of the Monster Energy Super X series in 2011 has been Queenslander Casey Turner, the Mega Motorcycles/Advanti Racing Suzuki rider currently sitting 11th in the Pro Lites standings.
Turner, 19, has a unique storyline in Super X 2011, entering the series with little experience on the national level despite competing in a few Super X rounds last year.
A regular in the Sunshine State series and Queensland state titles, Turner doesn’t race the MX Nationals, but certainly made his mark when the rain fell on the opening two rounds of Super X.
With ninth at Melbourne and eighth in Wollongong, a number of onlookers stood up to take notice of the number 55. He’s continued solid form in the dry with 13-17 results at Campbelltown and Maitland respectively as well.

Casey Turner has been a new face up the front of Monster Energy Super X in the Pro Lites.
“I’m currently 19 years old from Bundaberg in Queensland,” he explained. “I grew up racing around Queensland, so I thought I would take it the next step this year.
“I’ve never done the MX Nationals. I did a couple of supercrosses rounds last year, so I thought for this year I would do them all and give it a good go. I’ve been loving it. It’s awesome and a great feeling to be up there.”
Turner has been pitting in the factory pits amongst the sport’s premier stars and teams, hoping that he can gain additional backing to increase his national commitments in years to come.
“The goal is to gain some support, so it doesn’t cost so much to go racing,” he said. “I just like supercross and I have always looked at it as the pinnacle of the sport, so for this year I got into it.
“I had been doing the Sunshine State series, Queensland titles, club days and then I decided to do Super X. I have no plans for 2012, so at this rate I’m just taking it all one weekend at a time.”
Turner is currently supported by Mega Motorcycles, Advanti, M2R, Serco, Suzuki, B2P, Fly, TCX, Motul and Full Perch Footpegs.
