Some of us are old enough to remember when the Melbourne Knights Soccer Stadium in Sunshine was a Drive In.
Spent many a Saturday night at the Drive In there in my youth

Sweet, I'd never heard of them to be honest!! But I don't follow soccer either. You going to the race? It is good to see the series back in Melbourne.

Awesome to see they are keeping this going hopefully they can turn this venture around with these smaller & obviously cheaper venue's. I hope they can maintain the same standard of track.

North Ipswich Reserve? Seriously???

Sounds like a place you'd have band camp not a National SX round...

I'e said it before and I'll say it again this is a great way to go about and kill the sport in australia what a load of BS. Should be called the East coast aussie super x because everyone winges about going to far south, west or north what a heap of crap im over it! whats the point of trying to support a sport that doesnt even travel all over australia, excellent way to get the sport exposure, spot on there GAS!! MX nationals goes all over Aus and does a great job of it and every round is always full of people so why doesnt Super x follow the same path and actually involve the rest of australia!!

What about all the riders from western australia that want a shot are they expected to travel across the nation because GAS doesnt want to go to WA which might I add had some of the best racing over the last couple years

Sorry about the rant but it really shits me to tears seeing this happen to such a great sport!

I thought that they were going to go for a big season finale, but it doesn't seem likely. I guess after what happened at the end of last season this is pretty much a rebuilding year. Will be interesting to see what the formats are this year, considering they don't need to mold the night around live TV.

Do they really think they will get riders from overseas? come and race in a little paddock in Australia. What about formats? are they doing that stupid crap again? those formats are complete BS!
If they run that crap again they shouldnt charge the riders to enter the events! If in there eyes they are in the entertainment industry they should pay their entertainers or at least not charge them the privilege to "perform".

Dont mess with the sport. you dont need to make it more entertaining than what it already is. having said that - some of those 1 on 1 races were kinda cool - but i still want to see a 20 lap main event.

haha north ipswichh reserve is right in the centre of ipswich about 5 minutes from where i live... dont know where they are fitting a track and parking... it is a small football however i spose its still the same size as any football field so the track shouldnt suffer however there is no seating only 1 small grandstand... parking will be in the cricket ground next door i suppose

I just googled the place. Home of the Ipswich Jets in the QLD Cup. Here's a link (hopefully it works):

Hardly the place for a National SX series finale that's for sure! If they believe this is the best value for money ground in Qld then whoever was responsible for securing venues should be looking for a new job...

People from Brisbane don't even like driving to Ipswich so I can't see how they expect to get people from other areas of Qld to go. Myself and 3 mates have flown to Brisbane the past 2 years (drove to Townsville '08) but be damned if we'll be flying down to watch SX at this venue.

I have to agree with Dan 297, how can they possibly call this a national series. Don't forget to take a hay bale to the finale. Looks like you will have to bring your own seating. Also it seems alot of people and riders are asking for the traditional 15 & 20 lap main events. How are we going to prepare our guys in the future for entry into the AMA series if they don't at least have a couple of traditional races to get a feel for it.

Hey, according to the Ipswich Mayor, Paul Pisasale, his fine city is the centre of the universe. You gotta admire that kind of loyalty. As for the Super X finalé; I'm prepared to give the North Ipswich venue the benefit of doubt. Accordingly, I'm planning on being there.
