With the recent injuries to a couple of prominent riders and talk of all the support they are going to need over the coming years, my question is how many of these guys (us) who partake in this dangerous sport of riding motorcycles, have life/disbility/income insurance?

I think it should be compulsory to get an MA licence, but then I think everyone should be smart enough to have it without it being compulsory......

Combined Insurance... Been with them for years and haven't had any problems being paid out when injured. Also have life insurance with another company but thats mainly to pay for my home loan. Then theres the life insurance which goes with my super fund and my one with work. Can never have to much insurance....

Well a response like that doesn't fill me with confidence that riders are taking their future seriously.

Hopefully it's not a case of everyone thinking "it won't happen to me", because it does happen, to people just like you.

Every body who races should have insurance. But its a personal choice. I have had combined insurance since I was 15 and have claimed many times. I agree with you it should be compulsory just like ambulance insurance is now. I remember racing when there was no compulsory ambo insurance and people would try to get guys with broken legs down the dirt road from clarence mx track it was just stupid.
