So sorry to hear the news, really sad day for the sport. I've known Sharky and family since before I can remember when we were all young kids, so let's hope his family and wife can stay strong and enjoy the great memories that they had together. Godspeed, Andrew.

From what ive been informed he got abit cross rutted and then tangled up with another rider causing him to go down hard. Unfortunetly even with medical attention he was unable to regain conciousness and sadly passed away at the track

I'm not certain how it happened and I guess it doesn't really matter now either, however I'm pretty sure it was a single bike accident with no other riders involved. If one thing is for sure, the Racesafe medical crew would have done all they could to assist following the accident.

the other bike I believe was Mall Cash, and I would like to commend him on his actions. this rider stopped his bike in between Andrew and the on coming bikes to protect him from any further danger.....your actions made it possible for help to attend Andrew as soon as it arrived. great effort to protect a competitor and a friend ....

This is indeed a tragic loss for our sport and an even greater loss to the McFarlane family.

I have started a thread on VitalMX posting images of Sharky to celebrate his racing career. Check out vitalmx.com then go to forum, then "moto related" and the thread is at the top of the page.

Sadly, i was at broadford last sunday & witnessed Andrews crash. It was a single bike crash which happens all the time & generally riders get up from a bit sore & sorry, but on this occasion he didn't. Mal Cash was the other rider that placed his bike across the track at the base of the landing ramp in an effort to protect Andrews body & to warn others. He should be proud of his efforts.
It was a pretty depressing day all up & Andrews legacy to the Australian MX community should not be forgotton.
