Ive been thinking about starting a sport related thread but you have now started one.

I think its a disgrace that the cheated on the salary cap but at the same time i dont think they deserved to cop everything they have been given, especially the players cause they didnt know anything about it but yet they are copping most of the abuse . Deifnetly think the blame should be placed on the team managers, owners but not the players

I disagree uber, the players that were taking the extra coin had to know, dont you think they would when there manager or storm official says, "you cant declare this extra 100k".

I think they cheated and thats there punishment, fair and square, I feel sorry for the players that were on a minimum wage/salary that didn't have a clue. How would you feel to be a player at Parramatta or Manly and know you got beaten by cheats, it would be the worst feeling knowing you didn't win but at the same time you didn't lose, its just a terrible situation for everyone.

I will be surprised if no one goes to jail over it, Where the hell do you get $1.1 million off the books anyway

Yeah the players taking extra coin would have known but not all of them would of cause the team manage to get there hands on most of the top players. Im guessing they didnt ask any 1st year players on there opinions in the matter and even if they did disagree management wont listen to them.

And I would also like to know how the managed to get an extra $1.1 million while staying under the radar

I haven't listened to the details too closely so I can't really comment, but I'm pumped to see The Footy Show tonight! Can't believe they would cheat like that, it really is a massive thing to happen and has really put a cloud over all of the Storm's success over the years.

More like a time bomb under the Storm over the last 5 years. I guess its pretty obvious that they had to be over but no one had the proof, theres no other team that could afford to keep that level of players for that long under the salary cap. I've really got into footy over the last 6-7 years, I think the salary cap has been awesome for keeping the competition so competitive, it just sux that the Storm has stuffed it all up

but you know i still find it so hard to see how these pricks can get so obscene amounts of money, 2 million over the last 5 years OVER the salary cap for a club, what bullshit.

like, we in road racing struggle to make any money out of our stuff at ALL, never loan even have to think about salary caps and we put our lives on the line every time we ride for people's entertainment. and sponsors WANT to put their names on these guys and their clubs jersey and sleeves. crazy huh. thats the way of the world i guess unfortunately.

Yeh exactly, and then they turn around and bitch about not getting paid enough, they play too many games and the salary caps destroying the game.

So do the players keep getting paid for the rest of this year? You'd be pissed being a top player and getting a massive pay cut!

really i think every team is cheating the salary cap maybe just not as bad as the storm well everyone except the sharks no team can be that bad if they are cheating

Hahah I'm not a huge fan of football, but last year I played Oz Tag and it was pretty fun (like Rugby League but without tackles lol). The team had Glenn Allerton, Dan McCoy and Tye Simmonds on it most weeks, and we won!!! There was speculation that we went over the salary cap back then with the big names from motorcycle racing on the field lol.

haha daz, yeah i reckon alot of them are doing it hey.. not just the storm. these mo fo's get so many kick backs as it is. cars, appliances etc etc.. the corporate world re good sponsors to those guys!!

I was working in Paramatta this week and went into an electrical store for some printer ink and there was a big sign that said; SORRY NO PAPER SHREDDERS, SOLD OUT!
