AUStest 2010

krusty74

With all 9 of the greatest sport bikes on the planet available, I wonder how they will shape up. We will have the GSXR, CBR, ZX10, R1, MV, 1198, BMW, Aprilia & KTM as possible test bikes… What do you guys think will shape up as the best in each area?

I don't even know if the event is confirmed for this year yet mate, however the BMW is a top bike in stock trim, as is the RSV4 Factory. The question is, are they better than the bikes we had on hand (mostly unchanged) from last year? For me it's extremely hard to tell, but that S 1000 RR just has so much power, yet is so easy to ride.

Dunno, the Blade is quite a good package... great power, throttle response, power delivery, suspension feel.... an all round winner. It would take quite a bike to knock it off its perch

yeah.. kinda been bred into me, but anyone who has ridden a new blade will know what I am talking about. Then again, the 1198 was very close last year too

The funny thing is that unless you ride all the bikes back to back on the same day, you really think each one is "the best" if you ride them separately. They are all quite good, it's just a matter of picking them apart and finding the strong points of each that suit you. The Blade is really good at tests like AUStest or MasterBike because it's simple to get on and ride relatively fast within a few laps I reckon.

OK, on a serious note then, what's stopping it being held? Manufacturers don't want to provide bikes? Or AMCN can't afford the fuel?

There will always be a comparison... it just might not be AUStest as such because to do that AMCN has to hire the circuit, buy all the tyres and also the fuel! ;-) It's a very expensive project to get it completed. We may just do the usual riding at a ride day or something without the usual lap times and all that - it's yet to be finalised I'm pretty sure.
