Maybe you should ask the asbk people. why an R6 can run 56hp on there dyno and no questions are asked or that they only rev some of the superstock bikes to 10,000 in stead of the rev limit of 13,000. looks like they are checking bikes with their blinkers on. Ducati 1198 rs spec bikes are they even legal in aus superbikes? if they are too fast old mr tainton has plans to restrict them in place all ready. All forms of bike racing need the scrutineering to be more stand alone instead of waitnig till some one puts in a protest. lets see more fuel testing engines geting pulled down on the controlled classes. ramdon drug testing and everything the rule book states maybe we might get back to talent racing and not cheque book racing.

Staring will no doubt, as he has no one to race,….but it doesn’t bother me, look at the new players we have.

Interesting to see that YRT will still be at round one of the ASBK in the Supersport class, most likely because Yamaha is the naming rights sponsor of the entire WSBK round I’d say.

About Staring, all as I wanted to see him do this year was get the chance to race in the Superbike class against the likes of Waters and co on a YZF-R1. I’ll still be happy to see him on the R1 in the FX, although we really won’t get an indication of how he and the bike are progressing compared to the ASBK guys. It will be interesting to see how he and Medcalf go together, and also how Olson stacks up directly against Staring on the 600 (if it all happens of course).

Yamaha couldn't win in ASBK so they are going to race FX, Big fish little pond!
I see both the Staufer bros are staying in ASBK on different teams, I do feel sorry for Staring as what good will it do him for going overseas if he wins the FX title.
No offence intended here but when he is not racing against the best riders the countyry has to offer how is he going improve..

I don’t think any of them will be hollow as such guys, but obviously for any rider it will be more rewarding to beat all the top guys in the country. Not only from a racer’s perspective, but also a friendship base – guys like Troy and Bryan are good friends who have a lot of fun at and away from the races as mates, which is what it’s all about.

Yeah bet the privateers will be wrapped to see a factory team roll in and clean up the supposedly affordable championship.Now with speed shifters! Yamaha are the ones to blame for a lot of the crap thats happened in asbk this year and now they cant get there way with proddy racing there running away to where they are guaranteed to win.Sore loosers i reckon.Hope Brian and co are happy champions beating jo nobody around the nations best tracks lmfao…….Bet herfoss is giggling about now no SJ no Starring no Jamie……

Will be a good series with many good riders. Grant Hay will be good to watch on the Honda if he is racing FX, as will Crowey as you say. I’m sure McMartin will be back to defend his number one plate on the 1000 as well.

You race the 848 hey Darren??? Love those bikes!

Speaking of TV, it’s been quiet on that front for ASBK recently it seems, wonder what they’ll do between ONE and Seven since the V8s do Seven?

I raced some of the FX rounds last year as I was concentrating on the National F2 BEARs Challenge. I intend to do the FX Pro Twins 2 series this year and think that if Yamaha join AFXC it will be a major positive for the series and the sport.
Last year we watched Coxhill, McMartin, Beaton and other fast guys go for it in FX and now throw in Staring and company with other big names and bikes joining in the series, we will have some great racing with heaps of TV coverage.

That’s right crash…like I said, for me the big thing isn’t going to FX rather than ASBK, it’s that they have gone from MA to AASA.

When I raced in Australia we used to do mostly FX and selected ASC rounds in 2001, while Yamaha was pretty much FX-only and Suzuki/Kawasaki was ASC only basically. It’s a real shame when the major players get split up, plus when the privateers get split up into two different series.

Will be interesting to see the next step from here for the ASBK and MA.

From our lowly privateer perspective having a factory team involved is a good thing. It gives the series more status hopefully more interest from motorcycle press which overall is a good thing for every other competitor. We probably shouldn’t be surprised Yamaha are moving camps, given there previous history with O’neil, afterall his previous series before he ran ASC was called “Yamaha Formula Xtreme” so they have a history of supporting him in a big way.
From a purely self interested point of view I hope O’neil succeeds, as the way things stand at the moment he is South Australias only chance of having a major race meeting in the forseeable future.
Unless there is a new promotor of ASBK we have no chance of seeing that series here again.
I think MA under estimated O’neil and that is a dangerous thing to do in business with the setup he has now, he is a much more formidable opponent than last time he went head to head with MA, however this time they have no control over him via permits and dates.
Perhaps MA sould have heeded the saying “keep your friends close and your enemys even closer”

I would like to know from a privateer perspective, does this make the FX series more appealing now that you (or your sons/daughters/sponsored riders) can race in the FX series while still racing in front of a factory team? Everybody wants to get picked up by a team, so surely having a powerhouse effort like YRT at FX would make the series more appealing to a lot of people since you have an opportunity of getting ‘noticed’ – especially the young Superstock kids and their parents? I’m just curious regarding this one.

Heard this rumor floating around last year,hoping it wasn’t true. A case of taking the bat and ball and legging it Yamaha!!
Seems to be going against the grain for FX though.
All Terry’s hype about creating an even playing field etc not wanting factory teams is blown out of the water with this.
No matter what spec the bikes are, Factory teams will always come out on top.
Back to the bad old days.

Hope MA and Konsky can step it up or the ASBK will end up as the poor cousin again.
