The ASBK will be back in 2010 with Motologic and Team Joe Rocket Suzuki leading the Superbike charge.

Industry sources have revealed that Australian Superbike Championship promoter International Entertainment Group is working hard behind the scenes to secure a calendar for the 2010 championship.

As of this week, it is believed that the calendar is in the final stages of negotiations between IEG, Motorcycling Australia, V8 Supercars Australia, circuit owners, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation (MotoGP round organisers) and the Phillip Island Circuit (WSBK round organisers).

Leaks have begun filtering through the organisations, with next year’s series currently scheduled to feature eight rounds, made up of three events at Phillip Island, two events at Symmons Plains, two events at Queensland Raceway and one event at Hidden Valley.

Sources suggest that the series will feature three rounds alongside the V8 Supercars Championship Series, a round each alongside the MotoGP and WSBK international events, and three standalone rounds.

An extra round alongside the V8 Supercars and the finalisation of the MotoGP and WSBK support races is what is believed to be the holdup in the release of the calendar.

With official dates, classes or the event structure yet to be released by IEG, a major shakeup for the nation’s premier motorcycle road race series will see the absence of Eastern Creek and Mallala Motorsport Park from the 2010 series.

IEG director Yarrive Konsky is yet to make a statement regarding the series for next season, although it’s expected that an announcement is currently in the works.

The final round of the 2009 season will take place at Phillip Island on 27-29 November, where Glenn Allerton, Josh Waters and Wayne Maxwell are separated by just nine points heading into the finale.
