Big news on the Road Racing front with a new Championship commencing in December of 2010.

Australasian FX Superbike Championship is a 3 round Championship which appears to be twilight events.

This Championship is a break away from MA and is indeed a major change in this country.

I look forward to reading more about it in the coming weeks.

I remember how good it was when the then ASC and FX merged to become one championship and all the factories, best teams and riders competed in one championship.

I certainly hope this does not divide the Factories again, but, perhaps this is progress? Perhaps all the factories will end up in this new Championship in the coming years?

I still firmly believe our market is not big enough for this many Championships, but who am I to say that the ASBK is the be all and end all.

The factions within our sport are damaging it and it could take many years to repair.

I hope industry specific media report fairly on all Championships and allow the sport to develop as best it can.

At this point I think it's just time to wait and see what happens mate.

I've maintained all along that I am a huge supporter of the Australian Superbike Championship and the history that surrounds the series. To me, as a racer a few years ago, the official Superbike title always meant a lot to me when I was a competitor. It doesn't make a difference to me if it's MA alone, O'Neill, Konsky, Spence, Mladin, or Bracks running it, I have always hoped for the best of the sport and it's up to the promoter to get the job done with the support of the industry (being the competitors, sponsors, media, etc).

It was always agreed that FX events are well run and that thought still is maintained, and maybe with the support of the circuits and AVE we will see the series progress. FX has its own history, with legends like Kev Curtain being stars of the previous years, and as time goes on we'll see how it goes in this new venture.

I'm particularly interested in where the support classes will stand if the ASBK does go with the V8 Supercars for four rounds. This is an important step for the official Australian championship series that's sanctioned by MA, so hopefully MA and IEG will come up with a fair solution for all involved. Again, we'll wait and see...

As for the industry specific media, apart from AMCN, I don't see any of the magazines at the races or even chasing up the news for any of the series on a consistent basis, so a lot of the time it depends how much PR the promoters send out for them to make use of.

Alex Gobert - if that is your real name...

I think the new Rebel breakaway-from-the-norm championship could be quite good and i think it could work pretty well being in the summer time and all, it would even give me an excuse to wear my hawiian shirt to a race meet!

I cant really see the factories getting too much behind it but i can see alot of the other higher level riders, much liek the ones from the Tri state series and club riders alike getting amongst it... who knows.. they might even grab a trophie and some knee sliders if they go alright!

But seriously,
The december races could be cool for specatators and riders alike, as i read somewhere that they were doing day/night rounds which i guess means racing into the later evening.

I would be happy enough to go along to the rounds and watch some good racing into the daylight summer evening and crack a few coldies in my thongs and boardies, bragging about how i could do it better than those guys on the track to all my fellow spectators and that how freestyle is so much better than road racing...

AG- would you ever require an additional dirt bike tester? if you want i can send you through a resume, i think you would be more than impressed.. ..

Also, if i was to do my own test on the motocross bikes as FMX bikes would you be interested in putting it up on the website??? let me know ok.

Haha you build a ramp, do some tricks and then I'll consider you Bone. Nice input on the breakaway series, why don't you take your freestyle bike there and show them how it's done live??? Or you could do it at the ASBK and V8 rounds alongside Lukey Luke lol.

I wouldn't wanna put lukey luke to shame mr. Gobert. my tricks are too extreme for the ASBK anyway. People in road racing don't appreciate a good pelican trick when they see one.

ok, well it's settled. i'll jump on the FMX bike on the weekend when i am not busy signing autographs or something and give you a demo tape on VCR. the bone only has access to the VCR after his burning hot trick array burnt the laser on his DVD player .....

At the end of the day I guess you want to win the Championship that has the most amount of competition in it.

It is very important that media is impartial, if not please declare your allegiance!

Like I said, I'm a supporter of the Australian Superbike Championship first and foremost, and the importance of that particular series can be seen by the amount of press that many magazines give it (10 pages of race reporting in AMCN at most rounds compared to two or less pages for other national series). That's not to say the other series aren't important, but series like the FX, MRRDA, ECRRS, and others do receive less coverage since they aren't Australian championship events I'd say (I don't make those choices either). In the meantime, let's bring on these final two ASBK rounds - can't wait to see who wins the title.

Well, I couldn't sit back and say nothing, when the FX team are intent on distroying what they can't be part of because of their own stupidity.

Good on the organisers for the new events not only for the end of this year but for the coming years. Me thinks it will be a great addition to the pitiful ASBK stand alone races in 2010.
Wonder if you would be saying what you are about the FX team 'intent on destroying what they can't be a part of' penrepine if it was someone else other than Terry??
