AMCN's AUStest (Australia's Ultimate Sportsbike test) is open to the public this year, where you can see a lot of good riders putting the latest 1000s and 600s through their paces. It's at Eastern Creek on 10 May if anybody is interested in coming out.

Haha I'm not sure but I doubt anytime soon! But yeah, it is a pretty good way to make it an event of sorts and it's been advertised in the magazine a few times in news so hopefully it attracts a few people to it.

Was a good test with plenty of spectators turning up despite it being Mother's Day and raining. Pace setters on the day were Jason Kain, Adam Fergusson, and Mark Willis. As for what bike was the quickest? You'll have to wait two weeks for the next AMCN!!

I am surprised of the result as yamaha r1 09 in 6th and there time they got. when they first brought the yamaha to eastern creek it was averaging 1:39, ("SBOTY the R1 pulled the quickest lap times") . Austest and there average time for the 09 R1 is 1:41.72... ?. The average lap times were close thoughout the bikes. Its seems the scores were maked high on the dyno tests and weight ratio.

Yeah, a few results were surprising but the results are tallied from 50% lap times, 40% rider survey, and 10% dyno/weight figures. As for the lap times, AMCN had road-spec tyres in the bikes and it's very unlikely that too many people would go quicker on those particular tyres than testers with so many titles and so much racing experience between them. Either way, I still love the R1's engine and you can't argue that it's a good bike - it's awesome. Road component still to come.
